Can you believe it’s October? I feel like I blinked and September was over. Seriously? Where did the month go? Anyhow, how was your weekend? Mine was spent binge watching Gossip girl (guilty pleasure) and movies while trying to nurse a cold which I think has now turned into a chest cold…but I guess it is that time of year.
I think at first glance, the sheer trend can be a bit intimidating, I mean there’s nothing more feminine than sheer fabric. But that being said, no one (including myself) wants to give the world a peep show. However, you can work sheer pieces that are chic and tasteful into your wardrobe. It can be as simple as layering a sheer piece over or under a slip dress or top. And if you feel a little more daring, you could layer a blazer over a sheer top. Just think of sheer pieces as your layering friend 🙂
You can see that my dress has a mix of sheer cut outs, ruffle trim and a tie up bow. Because the sheer cut out is on top and stops just above my bra line, it keeps this look daytime appropriate. And the ruffle trim and bow add a touch of feminine playfulness. I styled this dress with white platform sneakers for my own comfort but you could easily swap them out for heels or even a pair of over the knee boots for winter. This is definitely a trend you can carry into the fall and winter seasons. The thing is to remember to layer and keep the rest of your outfit simple. And by that I mean accessories should be kept to a minimum, belts and bags can work but oversized jewelry would probably be too much.
