The year in trends – Part 1

Trends! Love ’em or hate ’em there’s no denying the fact that on some level, they influence all of us…sometimes in a good way and other times, not so much. I think its safe to assume we’ve all given in to a trend or two in the past, yup, even me:) And there are awful pictures out there to prove it! But I don’t regret my fashion faux pas’s because they taught me a few things…Trends don’t last long, so don’t spend a ton of money on them. Trends also don’t flatter every body type. I learned that one the hard way. Sigh, sometimes it’s just best to admire the look on someone else or on the runway.

But wait, there were some trends that I absolutely loved. Like oxford blood – the unofficial colour of the fall. Granted, I don’t wear a ton of colour but oxford blood was so bold that I fell in love with it. However, there were some trends this past year that I just didn’t get. Like the pajama inspired trend, which kind of carried over from 2011. Ladylike sleepwear for both daytime wear and evening wear. Really?!? Strutting around in PJ’S at the office or a night out with the girls??? Don’t get me wrong I love lying around in my pj’s but that’s at home, period. I just don’t think there’s anything glamorous about wearing PJ’S outside the house, no matter how comfortable and silky smooth they are or even how amazing the prints may be. I just don’t get it but at the end of the day, style is definitely subjective and personal, I’ll let you guys be the judge.

I’ll say Rihanna looks beautiful as always but I’m just not loving the pj’s…not matter how hot she is!!

Love the clutch she is carrying on the runway.

For me, this a trend that I hope goes away in 2013!!

  1. PJ’s in public are fine with me, day or night. If Cee Lot Green can do it, why can’t I?

  2. Oh God, some of outfits are terrible. The one right below the Rihanna photos…. *shudder* And even the exquisite Rihanna looks like she’s auditioning for one of Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion positions in that silk pajama outfit.

I had no idea that pajamas were a big trend in 2012. I’m so relieved that I was ignorant of that. Certainly no-one in Texas has worn anything close to it. But then again, it *is* Texas…. LOL. I love these trend posts, Jackie! Keep going, I’m learning a lot! I would like to see if you thought anything was extra, extra special out of the whole orange trend this year. I think that’s about the only big one that I was aware of to a serious extent. Or was it a big deal just in makeup?

Don't be shy, tell us what you think.
