Hi everyone! It’s confession time for me. Along with being a “shoe-aholic”, I’m also a “tea-aholic”. For years, it was coffee. Then I switched over to tea to cut back on my caffeine. I would say I drink at least three cups of tea a day and it’s probably worse during the winter. So it was no surprise to me that this has caused my teeth to yellow and stain over the years. This bothered me a bit but I couldn’t find a good solution to the problem. I’ve tried those whitening toothpastes and strips but never saw any difference at all. Plus those strips were a pain in the butt and never stayed on for me. Hello Crest Whitening Strips, anyone? Or the Colgate Whitening Pen which was a total #fail. In the past, the only place you could get custom fitted trays for teeth whitening was at the dentist and who really wants to part with $500 and upwards. Ouch!!
Finding a product that’s not only great for my teeth but also easy to use was a must. Enter Smile Brilliant!, an affordable at-home professional teeth whitening system that delivers pro grade results without having to spend a lot of $$$. Which to me is a bonus because then I can spend my extra cash on fun things like shoes & bags (sadly). So it’s no surprise that I jumped at the opportunity to review their product. So here it goes, check out my before pic:
Lets get down to the nitty-gritty of it. One of the things I love about Smile Brilliant! is that the kit comes with everything you need and is very simple to use. You get to make your own custom whitening trays but don’t worry, they include a step by step instructional guide with pictures too! And you get three sets of impression material (catalyst paste and base paste). You will likely only need two but a third is provided in case you make a mistake…for people like me 🙂
Just create your impression, pop it in the pre-paid padded envelope and drop it in the mail. Once you get your trays back, you are ready to start! Easy Peasy! So easy that I actually soak in the tub while I whiten my teeth. First, I brush and floss my teeth really well, then I grab my trays and apply a thin steady ribbon of gel in the front inner surface of both trays. I then dry my teeth, insert the trays and relax. It’s seriously that easy! You can leave them in for 15 minutes or up to three hours, it all depends on your own personal preference. I chose to start at half an hour and worked my way up to an hour.
If you have sensitive teeth, you can use the desensitizing gel prior to whitening. And let me tell you, it’s a lifesaver. Just apply it prior to whitening and it will help reduce any sensitivity. However, I highly recommend using it post-teeth whitening too. You will reduce the chances of re-staining your teeth after the whitening procedures, not to mention remineralize any small lesions, strengthen tooth enamel and significantly reduce tooth sensitivity.
Below are my results after four whitening sessions:
As we all know, no whitening process is permeant, unless you avoid all foods and beverages which is highly unlikely. But once you have your trays, it’s easy to maintain a white smile because you can always order more whitening gel 🙂
Be sure to check out their reviews/testimonials page here to see more before and after pics. Trust me, these photos will convince you that it really does work and at a fraction of the cost.
I highly recommend Smile Brilliant! It’s extremely easy and quick to use and you see the results immediately. One of the things I really like about it is that you can whiten at your own pace. Twice a week or four times, the choice is yours. The length of each treatment is up to you too. Although it’s not recommended to do sessions longer than three hours. But really, who has the patience to go that long!
Have a great week!
