ModCloth Polyvore: Evening of Extravagance Dress Challenge

In Fashion, Uncategorized by Testing Purpose32 Comments

When ModCloth invited me to take part in their Polyvore Uniquely You style challenge, I was beyond excited. What is the Uniquely You campaign? Basically ModCloth invites bloggers to style an entire outfit using a featured items as well as other items available for purchase on their site. The looks are then posted on Polyvore as well as on our blogs. If you’re not familiar with ModCloth, they are a one-stop shop for all things retro, indie and vintage inspired style. From clothing, shoes, accessories and decor, they have it all. I highly recommend checking out their site.

For this challenge, the featured item is this beautiful black and beige floral lace dress called an Evening of Extravagance. And the best part of this dress is? A tulle underlay! How fun is that?!? Who doesn’t love a little bounce 🙂

When I saw this dress, I knew immediately that I wanted to pair it with their vegan faux leather moto jacket. Leather and lace pair beautifully together and I love how this moto jacket gives the dress a bit of edge while still looking polished. And since we’re so close to Valentine’s Day, I decided to add a little red with the heels and lip stain but kept the rest of the accessories fairly simple. Let the dress shine! This look can also be seen on my polyvore page too.

What do you think? How would you style this dress?

  1. Jackie please be my stylist! I love how you put everything together, at the first sight of this dress, I would have said it made a statement on it’s own but you made it SO MUCH BETTER! Lovely! And leather plus lace has been in my heart for so long! I used to wear my leather jacked with a lacey white dress and every girl in school would tell me they don’t go together but I’d still wear them because I liked it. Ha, in their face! ahaha 😀

  2. I adore that dress and the set actually. So classic and so chic. I am sure this dress looks fabulous on you. To answer your question about how cold it gets here, the coldest we have so far was 9 degrees. Not as cold as you guys.

  3. I need to check out this mod cloth thing but what a fun dress! I like the black and beige combination and I like how you styled it. I think I would’ve either just kept the shoes and jewelry red or keep the shows and jewelry gold 🙂

  4. Congratulations on the collaboration, Jackie! How fun.

I couldn’t imagine a better way to style that dress. The leather biker jacket makes it uber cool — without looking tacky. Great choices!
