How To Pack Like The Diva Pro That You Are

In Fashion, Lifestyle, Outfit of the day by wR23Fs2Sqi13 Comments

There are some people who love to pack and then there are others like myself who dread it. I tend to over pack because I always think “I need options.” When really, I don’t.
Now that spring break is officially here, I thought it might be the perfect time to talk about packing. Not all of us will be heading somewhere hot for spring but there’s still summer vacation to think about. Since my good friend Candace was a heading to Mexico for a destination wedding, I thought she would be the perfect person to try these tips on. So, with help of our friends from Luxe Labels, we figured out a quick and easy plan to stop you from over packing.

The key to packing smart and packing light is focusing on versatility; it’s what makes packing a breeze.Whether you’re packing for a weekend getaway, a family wedding or a girl’s trip, figuring out how many outfits you need is the first step.

How to figure out how many outfits you need

It’s simple, take the total number of days (you’re going to be away) and divide by five. Round up to the nearest whole number and that’s the number of dresses, rompers or jumpsuits you need. Now take that number and multiply by three. Bring that many (amount of) shirts and bottoms. You should have enough combinations to make it thru your trip. And that doesn’t even include anything you might pick up on your trip

What to pack

So now that we’ve got the number of outfits required…. What to pack?
I think this goes without saying but I’ll mention it – pick versatile pieces that fit into your travel activities.
Stick to colors & patterns that mix and layer easily. I usually like to stick to one color story and then add in a couple of complimentary colors to break things up.
Packing one or two ‘all purpose’ dresses will save you some room in your suitcase. And you can easily switch up the look by changing your accessories and shoes. If your vacation includes some beach time then packing a swimsuit and cover up (or tunic) should be sufficient. Unless of course most of your time will be spent by the water, then add an extra swimsuit.

This dress can be easily dressed up and down
*Quick tip -when you’re packing your bottoms (skirts, shorts, pants, etc.) make sure one of each is considered dressy.

Accessories increase your outfit options but leave the expensive stuff at home.
– Pack a cross-body for everyday use and an evening bag like a fab clutch.
– Shoes: bring a dressier pair of heels or wedges and a pair of comfy shoes for walking around and sightseeing. Think slip on. And then pair flip flops or slides for any beach activities. For Jewelry, you are always better off leaving the expensive stuff at home. Pack pieces that are versatile.
